10-MONTH SECURITY GUARD - (MULTIPLE POSITIONS)
10-month position (multiple openings) beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.
About the role
The security guard will perform duties to keep students, staff, and the building safe. The successful candidate must possess exceptional communication and human-relation skills, be professional and self-motivated, and have a passion for helping others. Cultural awareness and competency are essential to support the needs of a diverse student and family population.
Reports to and evaluated by the Associate Principal for Student Supports. Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with District 207's support-staff evaluation procedures and aligned to district priorities. No direct supervisory responsibilities; may coordinate interns, vendors, and student media teams as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Actively monitor, patrol, and secure the school premises, including securing doors and other entrances.
- Respond promptly and effectively to all emergency events or crisis situations.
- Operate scanning equipment, video surveillance systems, and related software to ensure a secure environment.
- Maintain accurate records of security incidents, activities, and observations.
- Complete incident reports and provide detailed information for follow-up and analysis.
- Assist staff with students when appropriate, providing support in maintaining a safe environment.
- Assist with the safe arrival and departure of students, ensuring orderly traffic flow and compliance with safety guidelines.
- Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with students, families, staff, and community members.
- Provide assistance to visitors by directing them to appropriate locations and enforcing visitor registration procedures.
- Support extracurricular activities and school events to maintain a safe environment.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in law enforcement, security, or related fields preferred.
- Desire to contribute to the safety and well-being of students and staff in a highly diverse school environment.
- Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED operation preferred or required depending on district policy.
- Knowledge of safety, security, and emergency procedures applicable to school environments.
- Ability to observe, assess, and respond effectively to potentially unsafe or emergency situations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with students, staff, parents, and the public.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive situations.
- Physical fitness to perform security-related duties, including patrolling, standing for extended periods, and responding to emergencies.
- Competency in using security equipment, such as radios, surveillance systems, and access control systems.

Working Conditions
- Work is performed in both office and school settings across the district, including indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Frequent interruptions, fast-paced tasks, and multiple deadlines are typical.
- Requires extended periods of walking and/or standing, lifting and carrying equipment up to 25 pounds, and mobility throughout school buildings and outdoor event spaces.
- Visual and auditory acuity required for security monitoring and media production.
- Flexibility to accept work with interruptions in a considerate, helpful manner.

Pay
10-month position (185 paid days), 8.00 paid hours per day (1,480 total paid hours).
Hourly rate: $19.00–$27.84 based on experience. Annual salary range: approximately $28,120.00–$41,203.20 (prorated first year).
