About the role

Assist one-on-one with the provision of routine and emergency medical needs for a school-age child, including tube feeding, toileting, skin care, and positioning. This assignment will involve assisting a preschool student with a tracheotomy.

Administer medication for emergency seizure control for any student. Work under the supervision of the building principal, the school nurse, and the head nurse.

Schedule

• 7.0 hours/day (8:15 AM – 3:45 PM)
• 5 days/week
• 195 days/year

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one medical assistance to a school-age child, including tube feeding, toileting, skin care, and positioning
• Administer emergency seizure control medication for any student
• Assist a preschool student with a tracheotomy
• Operate basic office equipment
• Lift equipment, supplies, and/or children weighing at least forty (40) pounds
• Perform all essential physical functions of the job

Requirements

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification
• Passage of the ParaPro Assessment
• One year of related successful work experience
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Physical ability to perform all essential functions of the job

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with students with disabilities

Pay

• $17.47/hour (non-degreed)
• $19.74/hour (2–4 year degree)
• $21.50/hour (teaching certificate)
