Responsibilities
- Maintains sight and sound supervision of students.
- Models appropriate behavior: punctuality, decorum, stress management and conflict resolution.
- Affords assistance to teachers with academics and implementation of IEP.
- Develops appropriate adult/child relationships to facilitate learning social, community, and life skills.
- Administers medications in accordance with program procedures.
- Informs classroom teacher when the student is experiencing behavioral or learning challenges.
- Implements behavior management system, applied behavior analysis, and individual behavior plans as designed by the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) and Treatment Team.
- Maintains documentation regarding students as required: incident reports, behavior plans, progress charts and daily logs.
- Transports students to activities in the community as directed.
- Affords assistance with personal care and personal hygiene as needed.
- Uses approved behavior management techniques to work with students in crisis.
- Attends and participates in scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
- Evaluates work processes and methods and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
- Attends scheduled training programs for professional development that includes, at a minimum, trainings required by St. Joseph’s Villa and by regulatory and accrediting bodies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- BS/BA degree in education or a related field preferred.
- Experience with Windows, Outlook, and MS Word preferred.
- Experience with proprietary software preferred.
- Valid VA driver’s license with excellent driving record.
