Responsibilities
- Plans and practices consistently reflecting knowledge of content and instructional strategies specific to the discipline.
- Actively seeks knowledge of students' backgrounds, cultures, skills, language proficiency, interests, and special needs, demonstrating consideration for these factors.
- Establishes instructional objectives that align with high-level learning standards and cater to diverse learners.
- Utilizes available resources and technology to enhance teaching skills and student performance.
- Uses assessment results to tailor instruction and address individual student needs.
- Manages instructional groups effectively, ensuring minimal teacher support and smooth transitions.
- Maintains a safe classroom environment and efficiently handles materials and supplies.
- Establishes and enforces clear standards of conduct, providing fair and consistent responses to student misbehavior.
- Maintains high-quality interactions with students, fostering a caring and respectful atmosphere.
- Monitors student learning during instruction and provides timely, constructive feedback.
- Engages students in exploratory activities and appropriately adjusts lessons to accommodate individual needs.
- Ensures instructional materials and resources are relevant and engaging for students.
- Organizes lessons with a clear structure and appropriate pacing.
- Maintains accurate instructional and non-instructional records.
- Communicates regularly with families and participates in school and district activities.
- Collaborates with colleagues and engages in professional development.
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with proper endorsements (LBS1).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Appreciation for cultural diversity.
- Effective incorporation of instructional technology.
Benefits
The salary is based on the New Teacher Hire Grid (Collective Bargaining Agreement) for the 2026-2027 school year, along with excellent benefits including TRS Retirement Pension Service Credit, paid sick, personal, and bereavement leave, and other benefits.
