1.0 FTE RISE INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT ($18.06/HR WITH $2,000 ANNUAL STIPEND PRORATED DEPENDING ON START DATE)

Support the RISE program—Reaching Independence through Structured Education—an educational experience customized for students with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, and/or related characteristics. The program addresses language, social, regulation, and academic needs.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the teacher’s plan for instruction for individual students and/or group work.
• Alert the teacher to any problems or information about an individual student.
• Implement strategies designed and assigned by teachers to meet individual differences.
• Prepare materials for individual or group sessions under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
• Work with individuals or small groups in review, reinforcement, enrichment, and/or expansion of skills and concepts presented.
• Support teacher(s) with the implementation of interventions, accommodations, and modifications to promote students’ academic, social, and emotional success.
• Supervise learning groups with the teacher’s direction.
• Communicate with teacher(s) regarding children’s progress, interest levels, or problem areas.
• Review assignments with students, monitor testing and makeup work, and organize classwork and homework relevant to specific students.
• Interact positively with students, taking into account individual differences and student needs.
• Utilize confidential and personal information concerning students for professional purposes only, in accordance with District regulations.
• Assume responsibilities outside the classroom, including supervision of students in school surroundings.
• Assist students with self-help, personal care skills, and health needs as necessary.
• Assist the teacher in maintaining classroom discipline and support classroom management as directed.
• Work with various forms of media, including technology, as necessary within the job area.
• Participate in planned training sessions or in-service meetings as requested by the principal or teacher.
• Perform other assigned tasks essential to the specific position as requested by administration.

Schedule

• Middle School: Monday 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM; Tuesday–Friday 7:45 AM or 8:00 AM – 3:45 PM.
• Professional Learning and Collaboration hours as dictated by contract.

Pay

• Base wage: $18.06 per hour.
• Annual stipend: $2,000 (prorated based on start date).
