08 - Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Equipment
About the role
The Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Equipment is responsible for the development and/or sourcing of manufacturing equipment to support manufacturing operations goals. Scope may include design and development of equipment, qualification, deployment to manufacturing, improving performance and supporting programs to optimize efficiencies while maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, procurement and implementation of off‑the‑shelf standard solutions and/or develop new standard automation solutions to support customer product manufacturing equipment needs.
- Plan and lead hardware and software improvements of automated lines and off‑the‑shelf equipment, via analysis of Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and other available data.
- Own communications with multiple stakeholders, including solution providers, for design, technical information and specifications.
- Lead and solve complex technical problems and oversee equipment validation activities such as Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
- Develop maintenance plans and oversee and/or execute activities to achieve target performance.
- Be accountable for performance, maintenance, and OEE improvements for multiple machines within a value stream.
- Support the customer product roadmap using Celestica Automation E2E process and tools such as User Requirement Specifications (URS), Design for Automation Assembly (DFAA) and PM workbook.
- Drive problem solving and corrective actions related to machine failures, speed loss, or quality issues.
- Work with Process Engineering to ensure equipment is statistically capable of meeting product manufacturing requirements.
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of related experience in similar job roles.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience (educational requirements may vary by geography).
Physical Demands
Duties are performed in a normal office environment and may require extended periods of sitting, sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or detailed data, repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a mouse, calculator), and occasional travel.
