03 - Production Operator - Line Lead

Band 03 – Direct role in Operations / Production, based in Richardson, Texas.

About the role

Performs moderately complex tasks relating to the manufacture, assembly, repair, or modification of products. Receives no instructions on routine work and general instructions on new assignments. Tasks require judgment in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions may cause minor impact on work unit operations or schedules. Works under general supervision; refers situations not covered by standard processes to expert resources. May demonstrate work methods to new employees.

Responsibilities

• Hand soldering, manual assembly, setup, operation, and basic maintenance of custom and standard semi-automatic and/or automated assembly equipment and tools.
• Operation of automated and functional test units.
• Rotation between operations and/or products as schedule dictates.
• Inspection of product using visual, automated, electronic, and mechanical inspection procedures.
• Use of automated and non-automated diagnostic programs for electronic product testing and functional testing.
• Troubleshooting, highlighting, and communicating issues relating to routine and/or basic defects.
• Application of foundation skills and competence in a range of skills associated with the primary work area, including coaching and additional key skills outside the primary work area.

Requirements

• Specific certifications as defined by site operations.
• General knowledge of product process flow, quality and soldering specifications, and quality improvement processes.
• Knowledge of manufacturing information systems.
• Ability to recognize and communicate problems in the operation process or with components to the Team Leader.
• Ability to learn established quality and quantity requirements.
• Manual assembly skills to produce high-quality products within defined time periods.
• Knowledge of electrical, electromechanical, and pneumatic systems and principles of operation.
• Ability to analyze equipment and systems, make adjustments within defined job scope, or highlight problems to the Team Leader.
• Knowledge of personal computers and ability to learn and use area-specific applications.
• Ability to maintain detailed, accurate, and organized records.
• Effective communication with a variety of internal customers.
• Basic manufacturing system knowledge.

Physical Demands

Duties are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional to frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, and temperature extremes. Requires:

• Periodic light physical effort and exertion, including prolonged repetitive motions, manual dexterity, and precise hand/eye coordination.
• Sitting and/or standing in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving/handling materials.
• Periodic heavy manual effort, including lifting objects.
• Extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma and additional courses after high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational requirements may vary by geography.
