About the role

As a Medical Assistant, you will assist healthcare professionals in providing care to patients. This position requires 25% travel to our satellite locations in Rochelle, Beloit, Dixon, and Sycamore.

Responsibilities

• Provide general back-office support to physicians.
• Assist providers with exams as needed.
• Stock and monitor inventory levels of medical supplies.
• Monitor and maintain medication sample closet.
• Prepare and assist patients for testing; obtain results for exams as requested.
• Obtain lab results, have physician review, and notify patients of results as instructed.
• Answer patient calls and respond in a prompt and professional manner.
• Perform final review of charts after chart prep.
• Train back-office staff as needed when requested by the Office Administrator.
• Respond to and comply with requests for information via the most appropriate method, including fax.
• Complete all requests within timeframes established by office policy.
• Follow rules and regulations of confidentiality protection related to patient information.
• Deliver information to patient care or other designated areas, including provider offices.
• Complete the referral process for specific procedures when requested by the Office Administrator.
• Provide leadership and guidance for excellent customer service.
• Communicate and engage effectively with others.
• Seek opportunities to learn, share knowledge, and develop processes for transferring information.
• Follow and maintain policy and procedures.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience; combined education/experience may substitute for minimum experience.
