Responsibilities

• Presides over various matters requiring judicial action prior to disposition
• Presides over hearings and trials, including jury trials
• Hears evidence
• Compels production of relevant evidence, including books, papers, vouchers, documents, and other writings
• Rules on admissibility of evidence
• Issues summons and attachments for the appearance of witnesses
• Examines witnesses
• Swears witnesses for hearings and trials
• Performs related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Juris Doctorate, licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, and 5 years experience practicing law.

Skills & Abilities

• Must be able to act independently on own authority
