Qualifications:
- Holds NYS certification in Physical Education with additional Adaptive Physical Education Certification
- Possesses broad subject-area knowledge of physical education curriculum, skill-based teaching strategies and assessment
- Possesses strong communication skills to successfully build partnerships with parents, students, and colleagues
- Demonstrated evidence to work with students of all ability levels, differentiate instruction, and use a variety of teaching techniques
- Possesses strong, positive behavior management skills
- Demonstrated evidence of being highly organized
- Demonstrated flexibility in teaching situations.
- Possesses a sensitivity to non-academic student issues
- Demonstrated proficiency in meeting all school routines in a responsible and efficient manner
- Enjoys working with students with disabilities, cognitive deficits, health, physical and medical needs, and/or multiple impairments
- Possesses creative problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates willingness to contribute to the overall function and well-being of the department and the school
- Expertise in health-related fitness concepts and fitness assessment
- Demonstrated ability to help students create an individualized fitness plan
- Familiar with various forms of authentic physical education assessments
- Demonstrated ability to openly communicate with parents regarding students' progress
- Certified in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard Training

Per WTA Contract ($4,454 - $5,370)

Internal: District employees (Probationary and tenured teachers requesting a transfer within their current tenure area, Teaching Assistants who are currently fully certified in the appropriate tenure area) may apply by submitting a letter of interest to Human Resources with a copy to the building principal. The original signed letters of interest must be submitted by the end of the day on July 14, 2026.
